A village's main street has been closed this morning because of an unsafe building.

The closure affects The Street in Mersham in both directions between the junctions of Kingsford Street and Old Rectory Close.

Browne's Scaffolders were working on the structure near Little Hatch Cottage yesterday, and work is expected to take three weeks.

Kent County Council Highways say a diversion is in place via Bower Road, Station Road and the A20.

The works are believed to have been scheduled in June earlier this year.
