FIVE people, four juveniles and a man in his 30s, have now been questioned by detectives investigating the murder of a 34-year-old man in Ashford.

They have all been released pending further inquiries and will return for questioning in December.

The victim, Mark Sabean, of New Street, Ashford, died last month after suffering head injuries when a fight broke out near the bandstand in the high street.

Meanwhile, repeated police appeals for witnesses have been successful and several people have come forward to tell detectives what they saw.

Now police are hoping that two women, who were drinking in the Source Bar in New Rents on the fatal night will also come forward when they recognise themselves from the newly released CCTV images.

Det Sgt Andy Chapman said: “The inquiry is ongoing. We are anxious to contact two girls who were sitting on a bench by the bandstand in Ashford High Street.”

The girls were seen earlier in the Source Bar. Police also want to talk to anyone who was in the British Volunteer.
