Police are hunting an arsonist after three fires were started in quick succession in Canterbury in the early hours this morning.

The first blaze happened at 2.25am when waste cardboard outside a shop in the High Street was set alight.

At 3.01am, firefighters were called to a wheelie bin on fire in Whitehall Bridge Road.

Just eight minutes later they rushed to St Peter's Grove where another bin was ablaze, which also set the curtains of a house on fire.

CCTV is now being studied and forensic investigators have been to the scene looking for evidence.
