A woman said to have threatened to jump from a multi-storey building has now been led to safety.

A road in central Canterbury had been shut off by police dealing with what was believed to be a suicide bid.

Onlookers reported seeing a woman sitting at the top of a three-storey building in Oaten Hill.

Officers were called at about 3.15pm and closed the street between Old Dover Road and New Dover Road.

But the incident was said to have been resolved just after 4pm.

At its height, four police cars were at the scene.
