Boy, 11, taken to hospital after being hit by car in New Dover Road, Canterbury

An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

The child was knocked down in New Dover Road, Canterbury, just before 4pm.

Emergency crews including police and paramedics were called.

The road was closed in both directions between Barton Road and Old Dover Road until about 5pm.

The boy is not thought to be seriously hurt.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 3.52pm to New Dover Road following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"An 11-year-old boy has been taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not thought the be life threatening."
