Boy, 14, arrested for robbery after string of arrests in Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The arrest came after four other men were handcuffed for separate offences across the Canterbury district in the late hours of Friday and early Saturday morning.

The 14-year-old boy was detained at 3am yesterday by officers in Burgate before being bailed until Saturday, June 2.

Earlier in the night, an 18-year-old was arrested in Canterbury high street at 1.20am on suspicion of arson.

He was arrested in relation to a bin being torched in Stonebridge Road on Monday, April 23 - he has now been released pending further investigation.

A third arrest of the night saw a 19-year-old be issued with a penalty notice for his drunk and disorderly behaviour in Canterbury at 1.20am.

Away from the city, a 36-year-old man from Herne Bay was arrested at 11pm on Friday on suspicion of possessing a blade. He has since been released without charge.

Lastly, in Whitstable, a 56-year-old from the town was arrested in Swanfield Road at 10.30pm following an assault on Monday, April 23. The man has been released without charge.
