Cab driver finds bleeding man lying in Longport, Canterbury

A man found lying in the road in the early hours of Sunday morning suffered severe blood loss after apparently punching a window.

Police and paramedics were called to the entrance of the former prison at 3.30am after taxi driver Christopher Williams came across the man as he drove up Longport towards St Martin’s Hill.

Mr Williams wrote on Facebook: “An angry young man through his own fault punched a window leaving himself with life-threatening injuries.

“I found him laying in the road in Longport just outside the prison. He had lost a lot of blood.”

Other Facebook users have described seeing large amounts of blood on the road.

The ambulance service says the man, who was in his 20s, had suffered a serious injury to his arm. He was taken to the William Harvery Hospital in Ashford.

Police closed the road while they dealt with the incident. They say no offences were reported and that there were no suspicious circumstances.
