Can you spot the record breakers?

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Students at Kent University may well have seemed like a right bunch of wallies on Tuesday afternoon, but they braved wet and windy weather to help set a new world record.

One hundred and twenty seven of them created history on the Canterbury campus during Fresher’s Week, as the largest gathering to dress as the popular childrens’ book character “Where’s Wally?”

However, the group failed to break a second world record for the largest ever game of musical statues, which stands at 501.

Former student Ollie Goulding helped make the day possible. Despite the damp afternoon, he was delighted to call himself a record breaker: “everyone’s pulled together and I’m really pleased to see how much people have helped out.

“Hopefully we’ll have raised a nice amount of money for charity at the same time.”

Ralph Hannah from Guinness World Records adjudicated the event and was on hand to present the official certificate: “This is a new record and it’s great to see another category enter our books.”

He added: “like with all new records, we discussed it at a team meeting and decided it was something that would be fun and interesting and worthy of being recognised.

“It’s great with days like these to see mass participation as it brings people together and it’s always great to see a charity involved at the same time to raise awareness.”

Proceeds from the day went to Canterbury charity Miles For Smiles.
