Police charge Liam Dellaway of Edenbridge after distraction burglary in Canterbury

A man who allegedly tricked a pensioner and stole his wallet has been remanded in custody after appearing in court yesterday (Thursday).

Police were investigating after a man called at a house in Hillview Road, Canterbury on Wednesday, June 10, to talk about clearing the guttering.

Shortly after, the victim, a man in his 80s, realised his wallet containing cards and cash was missing.

Liam Dellaway, 20, of Wainhouse Close, Edenbridge, was arrested on June 23.

He was charged with burglary and appeared via video-link at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He has been remanded to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on July 13.
