Emergency services at crash blocking the A257 near Canterbury Golf Club, Littlebourne

Two people have been taken to a London hospital in a serious condition and a further two to a local hospital following a crash today.

Emergency crews - including firefighters and two air ambulance teams - were called to the A257 Canterbury Road following the collision shortly after midday.

A blue Ford Fiesta heading towards the city collided with a black Land Rover Discovery travelling in the opposite direction near Canterbury Golf Club.

Investigating officer Sergeant Chris Wade, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.

"If you can help, please phone the dedicated SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538, quoting 19-0365. Alternatively, email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk."

The road remains shut between between the junctions of Bekesbourne Road, Littlebourne, and Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury.

Motorists heading out of the city are being diverted down Stodmarsh Road.
