Faversham Town manager Ray Turner adds Darren Marsden to the squad for next season's Ryman League assault

Faversham Town manager Ray Turner has achieved his key signing target by bringing Herne Bay midfielder Darren Marsden to Salters Lane.

The 24-year-old (pictured), who has played for Margate in the Ryman League Premier Division, impressed for Bay as they narrowly missed out on the Safety Net Kent League title.

Turner said: "Darren was my main target this summer, so I am pleased.

"He has the ability to dictate the game from the middle of the park and can play in a number of positions. I know Herne Bay will be sorry to lose him but he wants to play at a higher level and we can offer him that opportunity."

With Michael Yianni having joined Faversham last week, Turner has strengthened his squad with two experienced midfielders.

The Town boss added: "We have been looking to sign players who are still hungry and ambitious but who will also bring some experience to the squad and Darren and Michael both come into that category."

Town held their presentation evening on Saturday and the big winner on the night was centre-half Matt Bourne, who won the Manager’s Player of the Year award and the Players’ Player-of-the-Year trophy.
