George Best football shirt and watches stolen from house in Cockering Road, Chartham

A signed Manchester United shirt worn by George Best has been stolen from a house in Chartham.

Burglars broke into the home in Cockering Road and took the shirt, which the striker had worn in the 1968 European Cup Winners' Cup final.

It was in a pine frame behind double sided glass and contained a letter of authenticity.

The shirt's owner told police that Best, who scored 137 goals for Manchester United, personally handed him the signed shirt.

An Oris watch and two Tag Heugar watches were also stolen.

The burglary happened between 11.30am and 4.40pm on Thursday, June 16.
