Suspicious suitcase leads to Premier Inn being taped off by police in New Dover Road, Canterbury

A hotel entrance was sealed off this afternoon while police dealt with a suspicious suitcase left outside.

The area around the entrance to the Premier Inn in New Dover Road, Canterbury, wastaped off while officers investigate the silver case.

The road past the hotel remained open and guests are thought to have used the rear entrance during the scare.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 3.05pm to reports about an unattended suitcase outside the hotel. Officers attended and carried out enquiries at the scene. It was declared safe at 3.30pm."
