Two Japanese schoolboys visiting Canterbury have been robbed at knifepoint.

The 15-year-olds were targeted by a gang of boys while they walked through the city on a school trip.

They were surrounded as they walked through a tunnel from Station Road West in the direction of Forty Acres Road.

One of the robbers pulled out a large knife, forcing the students to hand over cash.

Two of the offenders are described as aged around 15. One was slim, with blond hair and wearing a blue hooded zip-up Adidas top.

The other was of a similar description, but wearing a white top, which had a hood pulled up to conceal his face. The victims were unable to describe the third robber.

Police today appealed for witnesses to the robbery, at about 5pm on Sunday, October 6.

Officers particularly want to speak to a man in his 20s, who is believed to have been walking through the tunnel at the time of the offence.
