Travellers move onto land in Upper Harbledown, Canterbury

Travellers have set up camp on land in Upper Harbledown in Canterbury.

White vans and caravans were seen moving onto the old Wyevale Garden Centre site in Upper Harbledown last night.

An eyewitness said concrete blocks had been moved to one side to allow entry.

Police have so far received two reports of concern.

Spokesman Martin Very said: “We were called at 4.53pm on Friday, November 18 and at 11.15pm on Saturday, November 19 2016 regarding a report of a traveller incursion on land in Upper Harbledown.

“The matter will be dealt with by the landowner, which is the standard procedure in terms of any eviction process.”
