Sturry Hill in Canterbury closed for emergency roadworks

A main route between Herne Bay and Canterbury is closed for emergency roadworks.

The A291 Sturry Hill has been sealed off since yesterday evening at the junction with Old School Close.

Kent Highways says the road has been damaged by yesterday's severe weather.

An emergency closure was put in place last night due to severe damage from a blocked sewer.

Southern Water workers were on the scene yesterday and are due to return today to investigate and carry out repairs.

A KCC spokesman added: "Please approach with caution and use alternative routes where possible."
