Mugger attacked woman in street robbery in Aylesham

A woman was assaulted during a street mugging in Aylesham in which the thief snatched her handbag.

It happened when the victim, who is in her 50s, was walking in Kings Avenue when a silver car pulled up behind her.

She told police that a man got out of the vehicle and demanded her bag before assaulting her and grabbing it. He then got back into car and drove off in the direction of Cornwallis Avenue.

The victim suffered a bruise to her head and now police have issued an e-fit picture and appealed for witnesses to the attack which happened about 9pm on December 6.

The mugger is described as about 30, and 5ft 4ins tall with a black beard. He was wearing a black woollen hat and a grey hooded top and had an English accent.
