Man in St George's Street, Canterbury, arrested for theft and possessing a knife

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of theft of a mobile phone and having a knife in public.

Officers were called to St George's Street, Canterbury, at 4.40am on Thursday after the report of the theft.

There they arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of theft and possession of an offensive weapon. A metal file was also seized.

The man remains in police custody and inquiries are on-going.
