S Club announced as headliner for Pride Canterbury 2018

Pride Canterbury 2018 has revealed it's headline acts for the LGBT celebration in June will be popsters S Club and drag act The Vixen.

Famous for hits including Reach, Don't Stop Movin' and Bring It All Back in the early noughties when they were called S Club 7, the group is now a threesome with original members Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Tina Barrett.

The Vixen is a hot contender in America's famous RuPaul's Drag Race and will also be on the main stage in the Dane John Gardens on June 9.

Pride Canterbury committee chairman Edd Withers said both acts were a coup for the festival, which this year received a £2,000 grant from the city council.

"They both have big followings in their own right and as we still need a sponsor for our main stage, we hope they will attract a business to step up and support us."

Mr Withers said other acts were in the process of being booked for the festival which last year attracted 10,000 visitors.

It will start with a parade through the city at around midday with the free entertainment beginning at 1pm in the Dane John.

"This year, I think we could get up to 15,000 visitors because there is so much interest in the Canterbury event," said Mr Withers.

The venue and details of the late night party celebration will be revealed later.
