School friends of a 10-year-old cyclist seriously injured in an accident with a truck are holding a special asembly for him.

Levi Fegan-Moncaster is in a serious but stable condition in a London hospital after the accident in Sturry Road, Canterbury, on Thursday afternoon.

Parkside Community Primary School pupil Levi was taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate before being transferred to a London hospital.

A special assembly is being held for Levi at the school on Friday.

Headteacher Irene Nierzwicka said: “Levi only joined the school community last term, but in that short space of time he has already made a mark for himself as a fine footballer and is liked by everyone.

“The whole school is devastated by what has happened and our thoughts and prayers are naturally with his family.

“The staff have been wonderful and extremely sensitive, and staff and pupils have been receiving daily updates and bulletins.

“Levi’s mum wants me to share how Levi is doing and the whole school have been making cards for him.

“The parents and carers have been extremely proactive in supporting the family. They want to do some fund-raising and use the school as a base.

“I also understand a petition is being signed round the estate concerning the traffic on Sturry Road.”

The road was closed for five hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call 01622 798538.
