Canterbury stabbing in New Dover Road leaves teenager seriously injured

A teenage boy collapsed outside a Premier Inn last night after he was stabbed multiple times.

The 17-year-old victim suffered extensive injuries during the serious assault near Canterbury city centre.

Police say the incident happened at a property in Edward Road, between 9pm and 10pm yesterday.

A spokesman said: "The victim, a teenage boy, suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and then left the property.

"He walked to New Dover Road and was given first aid by members of the public.

"He was taken to a London hospital for treatment."

One witness said he saw the boy stagger out of a house in Edward Road and head towards budget hotel Premier Inn, where he fell to the ground.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the teenager was rushed to hospital in a serious condition, with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Pictures taken last night show a cordon set up outside the front of Premier Inn, at the junction between Lower Chantry Lane and New Dover Road.

This morning, two patrol cars remained outside a property in Edward Road, while a trail of blood could still be seen along Lower Chantry Lane.

Council workers were at the scene cleaning the pavements.

Posting on the Canterbury Residents' Group, a door supervisor Steve Freeman told how the victim had been stabbed or slashed a number of times.
