Danny Scott texted his ex-fiancee Tasha Horne just hours before his body was found at bottom of Reculver cliffs

A taxi driver texted his ex-fiancée saying “please don’t watch the news” just hours before his body was discovered at the bottom of cliffs yesterday morning.

Troubled Danny Scott, 28, was pronounced dead on the beach at Reculver shortly after 9am. It is believed he jumped to his death.

The church bell ringer and dad-of-one had split from his girlfriend of six years, Tasha Horne, just five days before.

The tearful mum-of-four said today: “I never dreamed he would do anything like that.

“We had been together for six years and were due to get married next year, but the relationship broke down and we separated.

“He had suffered a bit from depression in the past because he had been in and out of foster homes when he was younger, but he was very fond of his last foster parents, who were very good to him.”

Miss Horne said she and Mr Scott had worked together for Northgate Cars, where he was a driver and she was a taxi escort, accompanying children to school.

Mr Scott was well-known in Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable, and also a bell ringer at St Dunstan’s church.

After his body was found yesterday, Miss Horne, of Beaconsfields, Seasalter, wrote on Facebook: “I love you Danny Scott, always have and always will.

“I can’t believe you have been taken from me. You are going to be truly missed. You were my friend and my fiancée and I loved you more than anything in this world.”
