Gas leak fixed at University of Kent Canterbury campus

A gas leak at the University of Kent that caused a building to be evacuated has now been fixed.

The leak took place at the University's Park Wood building, within its Canterbury campus, which is still under construction.

People were evacuated from the neighbouring administration building and shop for safety, and the University advised those not living in Lypeat Court to avoid the area.

A road was temporarily closed while the incident was dealt with.

All roads are now open as usual as is the rest of the Park Wood accommodation area, and staff are returning to the surrounding buildings.
