Wet weather blamed for four different accidents

Wet weather caused four separate accidents on Tuesday morning as people returned to work after the Bank Holiday weekend.

Three accidents on the A2 between Canterbury and Faversham resulted in lane closures and tailbacks, but no serious injuries.

The first at 7.52am blocked one lane London-bound at Denstead Lane near Dunkirk, as a male driver was taken by recovery vehicles to the nearby Gate services.

A female driver was taken to hospital as a precaution following a one vehicle accident coast-bound at Harbledown at 8.01am. One lane was closed to traffic, while the vehicle was cleared.

Shortly after on the London-bound carriageway near Boughton, a white van careered into a field before colliding with a tree at 8.20am.

The male driver was treated at the scene.

Traffic was also delayed on the A257 in Littlebourne after a two-vehicle accident on The Hill at Evenhill Road.

Police officers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded at 9.08am after one vehicle collided with a hedge bordering an adjacent field containing horses.

Traffic was able to flow freely once the vehicles were cleared and the horses contained shortly after 10.30am.
