Police appeal after man dies on A2 at Dunkirk near Canterbury

Police have appealed for witnesses following a crash which left a pedestrian dead by the roadside.

The crash was reported to police on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near the Boughton bypass near the village of Dunkirk on Friday evening.

The pedestrian was a man in his 40s and was hit by a purple Ford Fiesta. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dual carriageway was closed at the Wincheap junction after the incident, leading to long delays on the roads around Canterbury while traffic was diverted.
