800 in junior schools’ cross-country championships

AROUND 800 children from all over Kent will be descending on the University of Kent in Canterbury for the county junior schools’ cross-country championships on Saturday.

The event is coming to the city for the first time after being organised for the past four years by Shepway Junior School at Maidstone. This year Kent College Junior School is hosting the event, with help from Invicta East Kent Athletic Club.

Entries have been received from 31 schools, and eight races, each one sponsored, will be held, covering a range of age groups. The event starts at 10am, with the final race at noon.

Cath Carter, one of the organisers, said: “It has been a lot of hard work but there has been plenty of help from people at the junior school, and Invicta."
