First Kent Boccia Singles Championships since coronavirus health crisis held at Canterbury’s Christ Church Sports Centre

The Kent Boccia Singles Championships were held for the first time since Covid at Canterbury’s Christ Church Sports Centre.

Overall 32 players took part, where they played on eight courts with a full complement of highly-qualified Boccia officials being supported by their necessary assistants.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport - and has been since 1984.

Medallists: BC1 + BC2 gold Amy Lewington (Charles Angels, Maidstone), silver Owen Porter (Prince Arthur, Gillingham), bronze Joe Sutton (Herne Bay). BC3 gold Ryan Savage (Herne Bay), silver Anthony Dale, (Charles Angels, Maidstone). BC4 + BC5 gold Gabriella Rolls (Dartford), silver Sam Alderson (Bexley Dodgers), bronze Roxanne Regan (Herne Bay). BC6 gold John Beddow (independent member, Gillingham), silver Jacqueline Baxter (Herne Bay), bronze Craig Foster (Herne Bay). BC8 gold Shonie Fitch (Herne Bay), silver Mark Denman (Herne Bay), bronze Charlotte Carr (Bexley Dodgers).

It was organised by the Kent Boccia Forum and proved a successful day, enjoyed not only by the players, but also their families, friends and colleagues.
