PHIL KNIGHT: "We really need them to show up on the night"

THE group leading the resurrection of Canterbury City Football Club are to hold an open meeting at the Westgate Hall.

The event takes place on Friday, March 9, starting at 7pm, and is seen as possibly the most important stage of the project so far.

City chairman Phil Knight said the club had been encouraged by the reaction to the revival, but added that people needed to show up in numbers in March.

He said: "A lot of people have been saying how happy they are to see what we’re doing but we really need them to show up on the night to demonstrate the strength of support for the project.

"We hope that anyone who is interested in the prospect of senior football returning to Canterbury will come along, hear what we have to say and perhaps add their own views."
