Founding member of Canterbury Harriers Roy Gooderson competes at Le Touquet 10k race for 30th time in a row

Founding members of Canterbury Harriers, Roy Gooderson and Joe Hicks, travelled to the Le Touquet 10k to mark an important milestone alongside former club chairman Marco Hicks.

This year saw Gooderson compete for his 30th consecutive time in the prestigious French race - an achievement made even harder because it took 32 years in total, as the race was cancelled for two years due to Covid.

Gooderson got to the race each year despite many injuries over the years, always supported by many good friends from Canterbury Harriers.

He’s the only runner - English or French - to have run every year for so long and was awarded a special trophy by race organisers Touquet Athletisme.

Meanwhile, club-mate Claire Pluckrose finished second in her 50-59 age category and was third lady overall at the Oysterman Triathlon in Whitstable with 1hr10min43sec.

Gregory Norman completed the event in 1:08.58 and was first Male V60 while Steve Clark 1:22.32 and was first male V70 finisher.

At the British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships at Holkham, Norfolk, Canterbury Harriers’ Yiannis Christodoulou was 12th in his age group 40-44.

Christodoulou finished in a time of 4:31.23.
