Kent Cricket all-rounder Darren Stevens says it's trophies rather than milestones that matter

Milestones mean little to Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens.

Match figures of 5-63 at Grace Road left Stevens one scalp away from 300 First Class wickets.
He missed out on the third morning when Matt Coles removed Leicestershire No.11 Charlie Shreck to claim his 10th wicket of the match.

But Stevens said: “I’ll have other chances to get the 300th wicket. I’m not worried about that. I was just hoping Colesy would get his 10th wicket.

“It’s such a special achievement and I was happy for him. He’s bowling so well at the moment.”

Stevens is equally indifferent to a second milestone. He’s eight runs away from becoming the first player in English domestic cricket to reach 3,000 T20 runs.

He said: “I’m not fussed about stats and all that rubbish. People say you can look back on figures but I don’t think I will be.

“I’m more interested in winning games and trophies and we’re in a good place at the moment.”
