Faversham Town boss Ray Turner in line to make two signings as he looks to strengthen Lilywhites squad for another promotion challenge

Ray Turner is plotting another promotion push with Faversham and hopes he has two new signings on the way to help them finally get over the line.

Town have made the play-offs in three of the past four seasons but suffered final defeats at Maidstone in 2013 and at Worthing last month, with a semi-final exit to Merstham sandwiched inbetween.

Town boss Turner said: “I’ve spoken to the players and they are all as crazy as me and want to come back and have another crack at it.

“I’ve been looking for a couple of key additions and speaking to a couple of players which hopefully I will be able to wrap-up soon.

“They are both vastly experienced but at this stage of the summer you are always waiting for the dominoes to fall into place.”

He added: “It has been a huge achievement the last few years. We went through a real transition last season and brought the average age of the squad right down.

“I’m keen to strengthen the structure of the club and try to bring in young players, not just for the first team.

“We want to try and build a young side and keep knocking on that door like Folkestone did for a few years before they got up.”

Faversham’s pre-season campaign starts at Ashford on July 12 with a trip to Tunbridge Wells the following Saturday, a game at Margate on July 19 and at Whitstable on July 23.
Folkestone host the Lilywhites on July 30 and Leatherhead is the destination on August 6 while Town hope to confirm a home fixture with Maidstone United.
