Canterbury's Tom Ward races for Bike Devil Kawasaki in British Superbikes at Snetterton

Tom Ward had his first outing aboard the Bike Devil Kawasaki at the weekend, moving up into the premier class of the British Superbikes event held at Snetterton.

His involvement came after the departure of Gino Rea, who parted ways with the team earlier on in the week to join Buildbase Suzuki.

"It was so good being back on the bike again," said Ward. "I have not ridden in a while now on tracks so it took some getting used to but I soon got the hang of it and the team has been good.

"I look forward to seeing where this will take me for the rest of this season and beyond. Thank you for all the continued support of the new team and of my personal sponsors."

Ward, from Canterbury, was determined but nervous as this was all new to him. He was consistent all weekend holding his position and landing 16th across all three races. He worked exceptionally hard and adapted to the new class, team and bike excellently.

In the third race, he found himself with some work to do starting on the grid in 21st position but he soon started to move his way up the pack.

The British Superbikes are next out at Silverstone on September 4-6.
