Police have launched an investigation after 750kg of drugs, guns and suspicious car parts were found at a raid in a Horton Kirby scrap yard.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate carried out a warrant at a scrap yard in Horton Kirby on Wednesday.

They seized parts from at least 40 vehicles, all allegedly stolen, including a large number of BMWs and an Audi Q7.

It came after reports suggested the unit may have been used to break down stolen cars for parts.

While there, officers found a container holding around 750kg of cannabis resin and two firearms.

In another part of the site a cannabis growing set up was discovered.

DCI Eddie Fox said: "This investigation is still in its early stages and my team are now sifting through the mountain of evidence to identify those responsible for this criminality."
