Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackle car blaze at Esso petrol station on the Blue Star Roundabout, Dartford

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a car blaze at a petrol station last night.

Crews were called to the Esso petrol station on the Blue Star Roundabout in Dartford at around 11.30pm, where they found the vehicle's engine on fire.

They used breathing apparatus as they worked to extinguish the flames and were at the scene for about an hour.

No harm was done to the petrol station but the car did suffer smoke damage.

The owner of the vehicle was present.
