A tower block containing 151 flats has been approved by the council.

Dartford Borough Council’s Development Control Board voted in favour of the development of the building in Ingress Park, Greenhithe, next to the River Thames, at a meeting last night.

Building firm Crest Nicholson will carry out the development which 10 member’s councillors voted in favour of, with three abstaining.

A previous application was rejected for failing to provide a riverside path around the tower block.

Chairman of the Development Control Board, Councillor Derek Hunnisett, said: “This is a revision that the applicant and officers believe has overcome those objections.

“I think it would be fair to say on behalf of the board congratulations to the applicants for the revision. I think they have gone an awful long way to meet the requirements from the previous refusal.

“It should help to enhance the quality of the development there.”

Cllr Tom Maddison said: “While I agree with you chairman, a little bit of social housing wouldn’t have gone a miss.”
