Lanes set to reopen after man earlier threatened to throw himself of the QEII Bridge, at the Dartford Crossing

Two lanes of the Dartford Crossing were closed after police were called out this morning for concerns for the welfare of a man threatening to jump off the QEII Bridge.

Officers from Essex Police were dealing with the incident, on the Essex side of the crossing which was causing delays for motorists heading into Kent.

Officer are still dealing with the incident which started at about 7am.

Paul Wood earlier tweeted this picture which shows several police officers and vehicles on the bridge.

The incident caused significant traffic disruption, but the bridge remained open, but was operating with just two lanes open.

At about 10.3oam, Essex Police updated people on their Facebook page.

The post said: "The man has been brought to safety and is receiving suitable medical treatment.

"We will be looking to re-open the closed lanes shortly."
