Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict building in Swanley

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict building once used as a wedding venue in Swanley.

Crews in five fire engines rushed to the scene of the former Woodlands banqueting suite in Hilda May Avenue in the early evening.

The fire is now out. It is not yet known how it started.

A fire service spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene of a single storey derelict building fire.

"The fire was in the roof space of the building. Crews wearing breathing apparatus and used main jets to tackle the fire.
