Fire fighters called to South Darenth junction box fire behind houses

Firefighters were called out to a fire on a railway line behind a row of houses.

The emergency services attended a junction box fire behind properties in New Road, South Darenth, at 8.30pm last night, after an electrical fault caused a fire.

Dartford’s crew manager, Jason O’Reilly, said: "We protected the gardens at the rear of one of the properties until a rail officer attended to close the lines."

Both lines were closed for around half an hour while the incident was resolved.
