Fun day at Dartford Fire Station is the hottest ticket in town

The whole of Kent enjoyed a scorching day on Saturday - but none more than the crowds at Dartford Fire Station.

Firefighters turned up the heat with a series of fire demonstrations, showing spectators what could happen if you leave cooking unattended.

Youngsters got the chance to dress up as firefighters and put out imaginary fires, as they learnt important fire safety messages about keeping smoke alarms in working order and how to evacuate a building.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 people turned out to the day of educational fun.

Visitors also took away safety advice from Kent County Council’s road safety team, talked about how they could improve their health with the Kent Community Health Team and even learned first aid and vital life-saving CPR skills from the British Red Cross.
