A badly injured man had to be rescued after his Mercedes car got stuck under a lorry.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was said to be suffering from multiple injuries after the incident in University Way, Dartford, at 10.50pm on Saturday night.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) spokesman said: “When we arrived we called for additional resources from Gravesend and Bexley and the specialist rescue equipment from Maidstone.

“We spent nearly two hours trying to extricate the man who we believed to be suffering multiple injuries.”

A Kent Police spokesman added: “One lane Bexley-bound was closed off while KFRS cut the driver out of the Mercedes and he was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. A female passenger was also taken to hospital as a precaution.”
