Pest control team called to The Flying Boat Wetherspoon pub in Dartford after diners spot mice

Pest control teams have been called in after several mice were seen scurrying across the floor of a Wetherspoon pub and nibbling on food waste.

The rodents were filmed weaving their way underneath tables and chairs at The Flying Boat in Spital Street, Dartford, last night.

Wetherspoon owns the popular pub and a spokesman for the chain apologised to customers, with the management confirming that the rodents had been cleared out by lunchtime today.

Matthew Soper was among those having dinner in the pub at around 9pm yesterday. He runs a business in Dartford and had popped in for food before heading to his home in Bexleyheath.

He said: "We were sat over in the corner and suddenly my colleague just said, 'oh my god'. Under the table adjacent to us there were about four mice eating chunks of food.

"They shot under the fruit machine or somewhere and then we saw another one go across the floor and under the sofa."

Mr Soper managed to film one of the mice on his phone and said he was surprised by the reaction of the staff.

He continued: "What was shocking was that the staff were looking at us as if they knew about the mice. There was food debris under the tables and if you know there's mice there that's the first thing you should clean up.

"We like Dartford but it's put me off eating in there again."

Weatherspoons spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "We are aware of the problem and a pest control team will be attending the pub to deal with this. We apologise to the customers at the pub."
