M20 blocked London-bound between Junction 2 for Wrotham and Junction 1 for Swanley and M25 following five-vehicle crash

Motorway traffic has been released after being held following a five-vehicle crash.

Police were called at around 7.30am today to the M20 London-bound carriageway near Junction 1 for Swanley.

Three vans and two cars were involved but no serious injuries have been reported.

Officers said at the time traffic was being held to allow the vehicles to be recovered as quickly as possible.

Posting on X about the incident, National Highways said two out of three lanes were shut on the motorway between Junction 2 for Wrotham and Junction 1.

“Our Traffic Officers are on scene with the emergency services,” they said.

“There is a 50-minute delay on approach with three miles of congestion.

“Allow extra time.”

The incident has now been cleared and traffic is being released although delays remain.
