Traffic was at a standstill on the M25 this afternoon after an accident involving a horse box.

The motorway was blocked both ways, with stationary traffic due to the incident between Junction 29 A127 (Romford) and Junction 30 A13 (Lakeside / Tilbury).

A horse had fallen over in its horse box and the road remained closed in both directions until it was recovered.

The carriageways have now been reopened.
