Martin Smith, 58, named as man killed in Mercedes crash in Longfield

A father-of-four who died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall has been named as Martin Smith.

Mr Smith, 58, was driving a silver Mercedes when it collided with a boundary wall of a home in Main Road, Longfield, at 5.10pm on Sunday.

His front seat passenger, a man in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and was flown to a London hospital by air ambulance where his condition is still serious. No other vehicle was involved.

Mr Smith's family described him as "a very loving husband to his wife Joanne and father to his four children."

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and have asked anyone who has information to call the dedicated SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538 and quoting reference 18-0934.
