Paul Reader from Dartford and Carl Wood from Cheshunt deny involvement in Hatton Garden jewellery raid

Two men accused of involvement in the multimillion pound jewellery raid at Hatton Garden have pleaded not guilty.

Paul Reader, 50, of Dartford Road, Dartford, and Carl Wood, 58, of Elderbeck Close, Cheshunt, each denied one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.

They appeared at Woolwich Crown Court today for the brief hearing, where they also denied conspiracy to convert or transfer criminal property.

The pair were remanded in custody until November 16, when they will stand trial.

They are accused of conspiring to raid Hatton Garden safe deposit in London with intent to steal between April 1 and April 7.

The raid over the Easter weekend saw thieves use a drill to bore a hole to break into the vault in London's diamond district.

The gang then ransacked 73 safety deposit boxes, making off with valuables worth more than £10 million.

Three other men pleaded not guilty to the same charges earlier this month.

Hugh Doyle, 48, of Riverside Gardens, Enfield, William Lincoln, 60, of Winkley Street, Bethnal Green, east London, and John Harbinson, 42, of Beresford Gardens, Benfleet, Essex, will also stand trial on November 16.

Meanwhile, four other men - including another from Kent - pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle at an earlier hearing.

John Collins, 75, of Blestoe Walk, Islington, Daniel Jones, 58, of Park Avenue, Enfield, Terry Perkins, 67, of Heene Road, Enfield, and Brian Reader, 76, of Dartford Road, Dartford, will be sentenced at a later date.
