Belmarsh prison officer Robert Norman, of Swanscombe, stands trial at Old Bailey accused of receiving payments from Sun reporter Stephen Moyes

A prison guard from Swanscombe is standing trial at the Old Bailey charged with misconduct in a public office after allegedly receiving corrupt payments from a journalist.

HMP Belmarsh guard Robert Norman, 54, is appearing at court this week with Sun reporter Stephen Moyes after he was arrested in June.

Norman was charged in connection with alleged corrupt payments by officers from Scotland Yard's Operation Elveden.

He denies the offence.

Reporter Moyes, 40, from New Malden, is also in the dock at the same court on suspicion of the same offence. He was initially interviewed under caution in June last year.

Operation Elveden is running alongside Operation Weeting, which is looking into alleged phone hacking, and Operation Tuleta, investigating claims of computer hacking.

The trial continues.
