Take a walk - we don't have enough staff to open Stone Crossing in Dartford, says Southeastern trains

Southeastern has told pedestrians to take a ten-minute detour around a crossing because there are not enough staff to open it this evening.

To cross the tracks at Stone Crossing station is level crossing, but this can only be operated by station staff.

This evening the train company tweeted to say there is no-one available to open the crossing due to staff shortage.

Helpfully, they provided a map showing the ten minute detour people now have to take instead.

Those wishing to make the most of the walk may want to pop into the local, The Lads of the Village, for a fortifying pint, before continuing on their way.

Should anyone get hungry en route a Burger King is available to provide flame-grilled sustenance.

And if the walk really takes it out of you, just book a room at the local Travelodge and take a kip before resuming the journey next morning, when Southeastern may have found some extra staff.
