Traffic held at QEII bridge after three cars and van in crash

Traffic ground to a halt on the QEII bridge after three cars and a van were involved in a crash.

Queues built up as all vehicles wre temporarily held on the M25 clockwise between J1a for the Crossways Boulevard and Swanscombe and J1b for Dartford.

Congestion was tailing back to J31 for West Thurrock and the crossing.

Cameras showed traffic officers diverting traffic up the exit slip road.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

A police spokesman said just before 4pm: "Kent Police was called at 2.34pm to reports of a collision which is believed to involve four vehicles on the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at junction 1B.

"Officers are in attendance with South East Coast Ambulance Service and two people have been taken to a local hospital.

"A road closure is currently in place and traffic is being diverted via the 1B slip road. The road is due to reopen shortly."

Traffic did not return to normal until around 8pm.
