Dartford fire crews called as van crashes into front of a house in Birchwood Road in Swanley

A van crashed into a house on Friday night and the driver of the vehicle had to be taken to hospital.

The accident happened in Birchwood Road, Swanley, near Dartford, just after 7pm when the Mercedes Vito crashed into the front door of the property.

Firefighters from Dartford were called to the scene and managed to free the driver, thought to be in his 60s, from the vehicle by prizing open the driver’s door.

Paramedics and police were also sent to the scene. A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The man suffered what we think were minor injuries and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“The vehicle had crashed into the front door of the property and had caused a small amount of damage to it."
