Some of Dartford’s transfer targets have accepted deals elsewhere but manager Tony Burman is closing in on his first new signing of the summer.

Burman is back in the country after a short holiday and he’s already been back on the phone discussing potential deals.

He said: "I spoke to some players before I left and some have gone to other clubs.

"There were names bandied about and I’ve spoken to some of them but, unfortunately for us, they’ve decided to go elsewhere which is fine.

"I’ll keep plugging away until I get the ones I want to sign. It happens every year, we know people chase the money a little bit and that’s fair enough. We have to accept that’s going to happen.

"We spoke to them, told them of our interest and we’ve had meetings. The ones I spoke to phoned back and said ‘we’re going with other clubs but thanks for the chat’, so it was done amicably.

"We all know people have got to pay their mortgages and they’ve got to get the best deal for them. I think I’m offering people good deals and I’ll stick to that."
